Bright, happy colours energize and stimulate my creativity. I like to apply my acrylics thickly and boldly to create texture and movement. My preference is to paint in an impressionistic style - it allows the greatest freedom without the worry of precision or perfect composition. It frees the soul... and my imagination. I draw inspiration from artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Group of Seven (Tom Thomson) and my Mother - Joan Spavins. She was a gifted, passionate artist that encouraged me to pursue my love of art. Nature, water and a love of sailing are great influencers as well.
